Low budget of course. Def Jam's really pushin this Ace Hood. Jury's still out for me on this guy. Song is pretty cool though, can't deny much that features Trey Songz. A lof of cameos in here: Busta, Angel Lola Luv, Dj Khaled and more.

Mariah Carey- I Stay In Love (Video)

Other than the fact that the label has done this album no justice....and chosen all the wrong singles...this video isn't that bad. I don't like the car blowing up in the beginning. Looks cheesy and doesn't make much sense. But other than that... Nick Cannon who directed the video, did a very decent job.

Lloyd & Ludacris@NCCU Homecoming...(Durham NC, 10/25)

Ok, so here we go. First of all I was a bit disappointed to see that there was only about 500 people in attendance but I was granted backstage access and got to see some verrry interesting things. First of all, DTP artist Brolic from Raleigh, NC was scheduled to perform before Lloyd but apparently someone cracked his CD and it wouldn't play. He was visibly upset but didn't lash out at anyone behind the scenes. He looked at the CD and said "Someone sat on this CD, who had it?" No one knew who originally had it, so everyone just had to deal with the situation. So scratch Brolic, The Dj ended up spinnin until it was time for Lloyd.
Let me tell you, this was my first time seeing Lloyd Live and I must say I was very impressed. He did a great job of incorporating dance moves and being able to sing LIVE....at... the.... SAME.... time (What a concept!). He had two male backup dancers. He really connected with his female fans and they really seemed to appreciate that. And for me, I've seen over 50 concerts and I can really tell when someone is giving their all in a performance and Lloyd was definitely giving his best effort. I talked to him for a second after his set. He told me about a remix with Plies and Fabolous of what I think he meant was "Year of The Lover." I've heard the Plies version, but Fab too? Anybody heard that?? But I talked to one of his boyz and we exchanged contact info, so hopefully I can get that for you soon. I kinda wish his set would've been a little longer. Didn't get to hear all of my favorite songs from him, but I should get to see him perform again in the near future.

Now for Ludddaaaa, I've made it clear numerous times before that Luda is one of my favorite MC's of all time. This was my 2nd time seeing him LIVE and I really think he was tired. That's not to say that he didn't give a good performance, but we all know that Luda is known for his high energy and to ME he seemed visibly fatigued. But lets put this in to perspective, he's been promoting his 2 movies out this month, just finished the BET Hip Hop Awards, and fitting in spot performances here and there. I would be tired too. The 500+ folks in attendance were hype though and he fed a bit off their energy.
Durham, NC's own 9th Wonder was in attendance. He produced a song on Luda's new album called "Do The Right Thing" featuring Common & Spike Lee. If you look at the last picture above you can see 9th right behind Luda. DTP artist Lil Fate was Luda's hype man. I thought it was funny when he performed "Southern Hospitality", he said "North Carolina Central girls give me Central h***." Little things like that are really good to incorporate to make your audience feel special. I wish he would've done a couple songs off the new album besides "What them girls like." REALLLLLY wanted to hear "Chopped N Screwed" or "One More Drink."

Mario @ NC State Fair (RALEIGH, NC 10/23)

So last night I had a decision to make, stay home and watch the BET Hip Hop Awards or go see Mario at the North Carolina State Fair. But thanks to the genius that invented Tivo, my decision was made for me. (I still haven't watched the show, so I have no idea what happend as I type this.) But yeah Mario (Mr. Dancing with the Stars himself) invaded the NC State fair in Raleigh...but let him tell it, he was in CHARLOTTE last night.
This dude said AT LEAST 4 times, "It's great to be here in Charlotte tonight." Now If you've ever been to North Carolina, then you understand how different Raleigh and Charlotte are. It bugged me to the point that I went to his manager and said "Umm, you do know you're in Raleigh right?" and she goes *looking around lost* "Uhh yea I have no idea why he's saying Charlotte, but I can't interrupt him during the show." As she proceeds to get a sheet of paper and write "You're in Raleigh!" and places it in front of his mic. :/
Now for the performance, I really want you all to understand the venue this was held in. Dorton Arena in Raleigh is about as terrible a place to have an R&B show as there is out there. It's a big wide open space with glass windows toward the top of the arena, thus if you have any type of band, they will drown a singer out completely, ESPECIALLY one that doesn't have the strongest voice or doesn't bring back-up singers (Mario had no back-up).
So yea, Mario was drowned out by his band but still gave an overall decent performance, connecting with the crowd, even bringing a BIG girl on stage to serenade. I didn't get to write down every song he performed but off the top of my head I remember "Let me Love you", "Cryin Out For Me", "Skippin" (one of my favorites off the "Go" album), "Just a friend", "Kryptonite", "Music For Love", and "Go".
I didn't get to talk to him and ask him why he didn't know where he was performing because I was trying to walk around the fair for little bit and didn't have time to wait for this guy, but I don't blame him. I blame his management. There's no excuse for that. It's their job to make sure their artist knows where they're performing at that particular night. And they messed up.
I rate the performance 4 out of 10. But again a lot of this has to do with the venue being horrible and not knowing where you're performing. Had these two situations been corrected this show could've easily been at least an 8.
Next up, HOPEFULLY Ludacris and Lloyd at North Carolina Central's Homecoming tomorrow. Still working on going to that one. 50/50 at this point. But should I be there, you know I'll have a recap. SO keep it RIGHT THERE!

Introducing: Leigh Jones

WOW! Ok, so I was given this young ladies album today. I knew I recognized the name but couldn't remember from where. So I talk to one of my homies in the "Industry" and he tells me she used to be on HiddenBeach Records(Jilll Scott). What's the significance of Hidden Beach you say?

Well I used to be a college Rep for HiddenBeach when I was going to East Carolina University. And this was one of the artists that they never released an album from. I knew of her but had NEVER heard any of her music.
Soo fast forward to today. I'm get the album and I'm told to that it's hot and that her single "Freefall" is getting radio play on urban radio.

Well I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much, but let me tell you. I was blown away. The music is sooo soulful and smooth. The only thing I can say nice (referring to HiddenBeach) is that they probably didn't realize how to market Leigh.
But anywhoo, Leigh (Pronounced "Lee") Jones debut album "Music In My Soul" is IN STORES NOW! If you like neo-soul music like Jill Scott, Chrisette Michelle or Angie Stone you MUST get this album.

Reported this morning on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, a "doctor" has suggested that Janet is not well enough to continue this tour, and it will be cancelled. Anybody find it strange that nooobody has heard the name of the doctor making all these claims that she's sooo sick....sounds like a cop out to be for a case of PTS........(Poor Ticket Sales).....

The Secret Life Of Bees Movie...

Saw the advanced screening of this last night. All I can say is WOW! Lived up to all the hype. Ladies, you gotta go see this movie....but make sure you take tissues. All the women around me were in tears once this movie was over.

Fellas, take your girl to see this and I GUARANTEE she'll appreciate you just a litttttle more. And you'll like it too. It had some light-hearted funny moments. And Alicia Keys............FINE. You should see it just for her If nothing else.

Everyone did an excellent job in their role. Dakota Fanning proved to me that she won't just be remembered as a child actor. I think this could be a defining role in her career.

Overall, I give it a 10/10. Movie comes out THIS FRIDAY, October 17!

Brandy Radio Promo Tour...

Sooo Brandy hit up Radio-One in Raleigh, NC yesterday on a Promo Tour in anticipation of her new album "Human" IN STORES December 9th.
I've gotta say after meeting this girl, she's really down to earth and probably one of the nicest artist's I've ever met. I noticed upon first meeting her that she really likes to connect to people. I stuck my hand out to shake hers to introduce myself and she kinda knocked it away and came in for a hug...shocked me...but I wasn't complainin ;) She had basically her entire family with her (Minus Ray-J). Her mother, sister and daughter all accompanied her on this road trip on a tour bus.

There was a private meet and greet with radio winners at a local italian restaurant where she played a few songs off the album ("Human" December 9th). One of which is the 2nd single. It's called "Long Distance" and it's another produced by Rodney Jerkins. I wasn't blown away by it, but it was cool.
Another joint she played was titled "Warm It Up." Kinda up tempo, I remember I was really feelin this one. I would've loved to get either of these tracks to drop for you, but her manager, Ryan, was like a Hawk guarding his BABY with the album and definitely wasn't ready to leak anything yet.

After the meet and greet at the restuarant, it was time to go SKATING. She hit up the local Skate Ranch. It was off the CHAIN! Her momma AND daughter got out there, and Brandy really suprised me with how well she could skate. Her mom said she hadn't skated in about 30 years but she was GETTIN IT!HA! She did say though, "If I can't make it out of North Carolina, then you know'll why." The DJ was spinnin a lot of her old songs, and I almost forgot how FIYA a lot of her old stuff is. When "Sittin on top of the world" dropped?! It was wrap!

Overall, it was a great experience and I doubt she'll ever forget this trip to North Carolina.

NLT, which stands for Not Like Them, were formed by Chris Stokes, the man responsible for Omarion and Marques Houston. The group consists of "JJ" Thorne from Inwood, NY , Kevin Michael McHale from Plano, Texas , V Sevani from Los Angeles, CA and Travis Michael Garland of Dallas, Tx. Two of the guys are 19 and two are 20. They've already worked with famed producers "The Underdogs" and Timbaland.

So I'm in the car right now on my way back from greensboro, and I figured I'd take this time out to vent. So bare with me. I made the trip from Raleigh to Greensboro...about an hour and 15 minutes, not THAT big a deal but still...GAS was wasted.

I'm very disappointed with Janet. I do not think she's sick. I think she's mad with ticket sales. And u know what Janet?...get over it. The "few" people that do wanna see you perform pay their hard earned money to see you and when you pull bull s*** like this, u lose fans.

I saw folks that had driven from kentucky, virginia and tennesse. And there is no doubt that there could have been people from farther away than that.

Your last 2 CD's have sucked BAD, you've let JD basically run your career into the ground. You need to get back with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis immediately or you're in jeporady of becoming a Has-Been.

Some of you may feel like this is too harsh, but just speaking on how I feel.And I PRAY someone gets this to Janet. You're officially on my "Black" list along with Cassidy and Lupe "My career has been a" Fiasco until u redeem yourself...BUT I'll take all of this back MINUS the part about the CD's being bad IF it comes out that she's pregnant...that is all...
